An ultrasound is a painless procedure that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to visualize your pet’s body and internal organs. By displaying real-time images on a monitor, ultrasound provides an efficient means of diagnosing abdominal issues, pregnancy, and musculoskeletal abnormalities.

In most cases, sedation is not required for your pet; however, it may be necessary to shave or clip areas of hair and apply coupling jelly between the smooth energy-sensing instrument, called a transducer, and your pet’s skin.

This procedure is capable of determining whether your pet requires surgery. In some instances, an ultrasound can reveal critical conditions such as a ruptured bladder or spleen, leading to life-saving surgical intervention.
